Hike: Dripping Rock South via Appalachian Trail, Rescheduled for Saturday Sept 21st

Bring your lunch and a seat pad (or towel) for this out and back short hike on the Appalachian Trail. This hike will begin at 11:00 am and goes to Cedar Cliffs which has a great view and a nice place to sit and eat lunch. Read all of the details below before signing up.

Note: This hike is easy but has some short rocky parts. No dogs except service dogs are permitted on this group hike.

Dripping Rock Signup (Saturday, September 21st)

Meet: Stoney Creek Golf Course Parking Area on Saturday, Sept 21st at 10:30 am. Parking is limited at dripping rock so we will car pool (It is a 14 mile/22 minute drive to the trailhead)

Alternate for those on Wintergreen Mountain: meet at Laurel Springs Road/Wolftrap Lane at 10:45 am (There is a small parking area which is at the Old Appalachian Trail here (37.9397,-78.9379), We will meet here and walk down together to the Dripping Park parking area on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Trail Description: This out-and-back trail follows the Appalachian Trail. The trail has a short steep rocky section before leveling out to a nice easy hike. This is a great hike for everyone but especially for those looking for an easy hike with great views and an opportunity to socialize with other members.

Difficulty:Easy Distance: 1 to 1 1/2 miles; Hike Duration: 2 hours

Bring: Daypacks, water and lunch. Also be sure to bring something to sit on for the lunchbreak. Trekking poles and insect repellent are recommended.
