As individuals the members of WSC are exploring all the excellent fishing within a two-hour drive of Wintergreen, often sharing their experiences in detailed reports to the community online. The fishing group has also built an online map with details of fishing ponds within Wintergreen’s Stoney Creek.

Members of the WSC fishing group are also offering classes on fishing techniques such as multi-day instruction to members on fly tying as well as one-day seminars on topics such as casting techniques.

Most impressively, however, is how WSC has been working to improve fishing within Wintergreen. In cooperation with the Wintergreen Property Owners Association and Lynchburg College’s Dr. Thomas D. Shahady, WSC performed a comprehensive analysis of the ecological health of six of Wintergreen’s ponds within Stoney Creek. Read the Lynchburg College report here.

This October 2015 analysis is the basis for WSC's plans to help provide active management of Wintergreen's ponds. Besides enhancing the ponds to improve fishing overall, in February 2016 WPOA and WSC stocked one pond with 500 hatchery rainbow trout for a seasonal catch-and-take fishery. Plans are in place to do more studies with WPOA.

An aerator for the a trout pond in Stoney Creek was installed in 2016.
