The biking group brings WSC members together for non-competitive cycling opportunities in or near Wintergreen. The group’s rides range from a few hours to overnight trips. The emphasis is on safe and healthy cycling in a friendly group setting. The only required equipment are a bike and a helmet in good condition. 2023 marked the 10th Anniversary of the WSC.
These five rides are all within two hours of Stoney Creek.
The Virginia Creeper Trail is indeed one of the top rails to trail in the states, reports Tim Jordan.

The ride from Lock 38 at the Shepherdstown Bridge to Harpers Ferry was an enjoyable 13-mile trip on a cloudy day. The Coach House Grill provided a welcoming spot to refresh and order lunch. Upon leaving the grill we noticed a quick shower passed through Harpers Ferry, clearing the way for a bright afternoon sun.
Counting riders and non-riders both, some 32 members participated in the July 17th event.
Our 13 cyclists gathered on Friday, July 8, at 10 am.
On a brisk sunny morning, eight riders gathered in the parking lot at the Virginia Blue Ridge Railway Trail (aka, the Piney River Railroad Trail) to kick off the Wintergreen Sporting Club’s biking group’s first ride of the season.
“We had a great time. We arrived at Harper’s Ferry in the evening and checked in at the Stonehouse Inn. We toured the town by foot, and hit a bar or two, then enjoyed dinner at The Anvil in nearby Bolivar,” Chris Corish reports.
The weather could not have been more beautiful, with a blue sky and a shaded bike trail.
