Ride Report: Harpers Ferry July 2022
/The ride from Lock 38 at the Shepherdstown Bridge to Harpers Ferry on Thursday, July 28, was an enjoyable 13-mile trip on a cloudy day. The Coach House Grill provided a welcoming spot to refresh and order lunch. Upon leaving the grill we noticed a quick shower passed through Harpers Ferry, clearing the way for a bright afternoon sun.
Over dinner, it was decided to ride the C&O Trail from Great Falls Park to Riley’s Place in Seneca Maryland on Friday. This 10-mile stretch of the C&O was between the canal filled with water and the Potomac River.
The scenery was so beautiful that we passed the entrance to the falls overlook and continued riding east for another 6 or 7 miles. The canal opens up into larger lakes next to the trail.
We made it back to the overlook walking path that led to the Great Falls. The Potomac’s rushing water creates a spectacular view and sound.
Susan Pleasants and Tim Jordan were the only riders on this trip. This is definitely a trip to do again in the fall when the leaves change.
