Archery Expands and Evolves in 2017

After a very successful 2016, the WSC archery effort in 2017 will evolve from a working proof-of-concept into a solid, sustainable program. This year members will enjoy a more detailed archery schedule, enhanced facilities, and more loaner equipment for those new to the sport.

New aluminum signage is in place at both the Rodes Farm range and the archery field trail.

With support from the club treasury, the Wintergreen Property Owners Association and contributions from members, hundreds of dollars have been spent on improvements such as adding attractive permanent aluminum signage, refreshing worn-out targets and adding a shooting lane at the Rodes Farm range. Club volunteers are installing and repairing both archery shooting sites. More first-rate equipment has also been donated as well to help WSC introduce more people to archery.

New on the schedule in 2017 are standard shooting times (twice a month on Sunday afternoons, weather permitting) at the field archery course at the end of Old Stoney Creek Road that was opened last year. 

Also, the club archery leadership has added optional scoring sessions, twice a month, as part of the every-Tuesday coaching and practicing sessions at Rodes Farm. A fall archery tournament and picnic is also new to the calendar this year.

The WSC target range at Rodes Farm is open to WSC members at all times, no reservations or permissions are required. Longbow, recurve and compound archers are welcome.

The Rodes Farm Archery Range is open to WSC members seven-days a week beginning in May.
A 20-minute, three-round, three-arrow scoring session is held on the first and third Tuesdays; two divisions–compound and recurve bows.
