2026 Archery Practice and Events
/This year the WSC archery group will continue its regular sessions at the Jerry Rendich Archery Range at Rodes Far.
All WSC archers are invited to meet every Tuesday at the Jerry Rendich Archery Range at Rodes Farm from 10:00 am to noon for practice. The first practice with be Tuesday, March 31st and last practice session will be October 27th. Coaching for newcomers or others is offered for the first 30-40 minutes.
We will follow our usual format with Introduction to Archery (10 meters) in the first hour, the regular session (18 meters) in the second hour. If anyone is around for the 3 hour, we will move back beyond 18 meters.
We should have 4 movable targets so that we can accommodate individuals who want to shoot at different distance than what the official shooting line is set for that hour.
All of the targets will have 80 cm faces on one side. However, 4 of the movable targets will have either 40 or 122 cm targets on the other side. This will allow individuals who are thinking about entering tournaments to practice at the appropriate distance and target.
The starting time will initially be at 10 am and then will be adjusted to 9 am as the temperature warms up.
Mark Gomersall is going to continue to refine our handicap system so individual may compete if they want to on Tuesday,
USA archery Level 1 instructor training: I am going to try and set up a level 1 instructor training for April 16. If you are interested in taking the course, please contact me.
WPOA archery open house will be Memorial Day weekend on Saturday May 23.
The final archery tournament/concave will be Oct 21.
Free coaching sessions for WSC members: If you can’t attend Tuesday sessions, I am going to offer free coaching session via appointments - even on weekends. Hopefully, this will bring in some weekends archers and offers our regular members opportunities to improve their skills if they can’t attend the Tuesday sessions.
The field range needs some direction going forward. All suggestions are welcome.
Looking at my archery season schedule, I will be missing a fair number of Tuesday sessions. Therefore, I am looking for a Co-leader for the archery group. If you are interested, please contact me.
If you are new to archery, and would like to borrow our equipment for the practice, please email: archery@wtgsportingclub.org to let us know you will need some of our loaner archery gear.
Regards,
John Morgan
