Hike: Saturday March 7th: From Wintergreen to the Wintergreen Overlook on the AT

This hike will begin at 10:00 am starting at Wintergreen (parking area adjacent to Laurel Springs Rd and Wolf Trap Lane). We will hike on the Appalachian Trail heading north towards Humpback Mountain and a fantastic overlook of Wintergreen and Blackrock Mountain. Read all of the details below before signing up.
Note: This hike is moderately difficult. No dogs except service dogs are permitted on this group hike.

Sign ups: March 7th, 10:00 am: Wintergreen Overlook
For those in the Valley to carpool: Stoney Creek Golf Course Parking Area on Saturday, March 7th 9:20 am. (It is a 14 mile/30 minute drive to the trailhead)
For those on Wintergreen Mountain: meet at Laurel Springs Road/Wolftrap Lane at 10:00 am. There is a small parking area which is at the Old Appalachian Trail here (37.9397,-78.9379), We will meet here and walk down together to the Appalachian Trail,
Trail Description: This out-and-back trail follows the Appalachian Trail. The trail is a moderately difficult hike with a rocky uphill section near to the viewpoint.
Difficulty: Moderate Distance: 4 miles; Elevation gain/loss: 1000 ft, Hike Duration: 2.5 hours
Bring: Dress Warm! Bring Daypacks, water and snack. Trekking poles are recommended.
