Hike: St. Mary's Falls, St. Mary's Wilderness Area, Friday, August 15th
/Join us as we hike to St. Mary’s Falls. This popular waterfall involves crossing the stream a few times. The hike is through a beautiful, forested area adjacent to the stream. The trailhead is just an hour’s drive from Wintergreen. Read all of the details below before signing up.
Note: This hike is moderately easy but can be rocky and slippery when crossing streams. No dogs except service dogs are permitted on this group hike.

St. Mary’s Falls Signup (Friday, August 15th)
(Note: if signing up a guest non-member - please have them sign up separately, and note in Remarks that they are a guest)
Meet: Stoney Creek Golf Course Parking Area on Friday, August 15th at 9:00 am. We will carpool to the St. Mary’s Wilderness Parking area (Driving Distance: 32 miles). Alternately, if you prefer to drive, meet at 10:00 am at the trailhead at the end of Saint Mary’s Road (37.9251, -79.13376). The drive will take approximately 1 hour (parking is limited).
Trail Description: This out-and-back trail follows the Saint Mary's River. The trail will go through a few stream crossings before you get to the falls. The trail can be rocky and slippery when crossing the streams. There is also a nice swimming hole right before the falls if anyone wants to take a dip.
Difficulty: Moderate (305’ elevation gain and loss). Distance: 4.3 miles; Hike Duration: 2.5 hours
Bring: Daypacks, water (1 liter per person), and water shoes and/or old tennis shoes you don’t mind getting wet. (You can also bring extra shoes for after the hike.) Trekking poles and insect repellent are recommended.
