Hike: White Rock Falls Loop– May 16, 2024, 9:30 am

This hike was moved from Wednesday to Thursday due to the forecast of thunderstorms.

Join us on WSC’s inaugural hike to White Rock Falls Loop off the Blue Ridge Parkway. This beautiful hike nearby on the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great opportunity to enjoy our local nature. Afterward, we can celebrate the hike at Devils Backbone Brewery.

Maximum Hikers: 15. Open to WSC members. Each member can bring a guest.  (This hike is not recommended for children under 10.)

Meet: Blue Ridge Parkway White Rock Falls parking lot at 9:30 am on Thursday, May 16. The trailhead is located at MP 18.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway at the bottom of the hill.  Heading south on the Parkway from Wintergreen, the parking lot will be on the right.  Coordinates: 37.896, -79.045

Trail Description: This loop trail is a moderately strenuous 4.5-mile hike with about 850 feet of elevation gain and loss. The hike has scenic viewports and 30-foot cascading falls.

Difficulty: Moderate (850’ elevation gain and loss). Distance: 4.5 miles; Hike Duration: 2.5 – 3 hours

Bring: Daypacks, water (1 to 2 liters per person), and snacks.  Hiking poles and insect repellent are recommended. Note that the trail has a steep decline after the falls.
