Hiking Group - 2024 Summary

This past May, the WSC Hiking Group was started with group leaders, Mary Lou and Wayne Mortimer. Throughout the year, the group held 10 hikes, with participation from over 80 members and guests. The hikes varied from the leisurely Blue Ridge Tunnel trek led by guest geology instructor Dr. Laura Neser, to the challenging seven-mile hike to the stunning Hanging Rock Overlook atop Three Ridges Mountain.

All hikes had a good turnout, providing club members with diverse experiences of local natural wonders, ranging from cascading waterfalls to mountaintop vistas. The Blue Ridge Tunnel hike was the most popular and will be repeated next year.

During the upcoming winter months, hikes will continue, weather permitting.
