Archery Instructor John Morgan saluted

As recognition for his dedication and professionalism, the archery group presents John Morgan with this black keepsake box at the 2022 WSC Annual Meeting. The inscription reads, “In appreciation, John Morgan, Wintergreen Sporting Club, Archery Instructor, 2022.”

This year John Morgan, Wintergreen Sporting Club’s Certified Level 2 archery instructor, coached 29 adults and children, all newcomers to archery, at our Rodes Farm sessions. Many of his students have purchased their own equipment and now shoot regularly with the club.

John Morgan instituted our highly successful voluntary Archery Achievement Awards Program which is encouraging every archer to motivate themselves to improve their scores.

Outside of our regular weekly coaching sessions, John has also met separately to coach newcomers to the sport.

John says he enjoys teaching archery. He’s very good at it.

He lucidly and patiently explains and demonstrates all aspects of the shot process to newcomers as well as more experienced archers. His advice on arrow maintenance and repair is spot-on. He proactively offers a bow purchasing advice service—meeting individuals, determining their budget, selecting a bow and measuring draw weight and length, and providing item numbers to order from an established archery provider. When the equipment arrives, he sets up the bow, advises how to use and maintain it, and tests it. When the Tuesday session gets crowded, John orchestrates shooting in waves at Rodes Farm.

Bottom line, John Morgan’s expertise and caring took the WSC archery program to a level that those who started this effort had never dreamed of reaching. – Mike Capps, WSC Archery Lead
