Boating: Upper James River Buchanan to Arcadia, Wednesday, June 5th, 2024

This Wintergreen Sporting Club (WSC) Boating Group trip is set for Wednesday, June 5th and will use Twin River Outfitters. It is an easy drive to the outfitter; it's mostly interstate highway. Use the link below to choose a boat type, pay, and do the required online waivers:

Twin Rivers recommends signing up ASAP "to ensure we don't run out of boats."

Included in price: Rental of boat, paddles, life jackets, safety orientation, river maps, use of dry bags, and all required shuttles.

We're going back to this run for its good currents and numerous Class I & II rapids. It's a short but fun afternoon trip. We get on the water at Twin River's Buchanan riverfront location and paddle downstream to the Breeden Bottom Arcadia Campground by the Arcadia James River bridge. As this trip ends downstream it requires a return shuttle.

All WSC paddlers will need to be at Twin River's Buchanan, Va., headquarters [map] for the pre-trip orientation at 11:30 am sharp. We'll gather for a break on the river at one point, so pack a snack. (No lunch at Ransone's Drug Store this year; they will be closed for vacation.)
