John Morgan

As a level 3 archery coach, John has demonstrated he has the skills to evaluate individual archers to help them identify specific areas that could be improved upon rather than just give generic advice.

Level 3 coaches strive to help archers develop a deeper understanding of the shot process and how it applies to them personally to improve their shot consistency.

The Level 3 Coach Certification Courses involve an introduction to quality coaching, motor learning theory, coaching methods, feedback methods, the mental process, movement analysis, training theory, and design, athlete development, coaching philosophy, and coach development.

It focuses on developing coaches who are capable of utilizing evidence-based coaching and teaching methods, and understand the finer details and concepts of the National Training System (NTS) for either recurve or compound.

This is USA Archery’s training system used to develop US Olympic archers. The NTS is a detailed educational program that involves 11 steps, starting with a stance to follow through. It provides a solid foundation for executing a consistent and accurate shot process.

A Level 3 coach can also train Level 1 and 2 instructors and also conduct other educational programs, plus a Level 3 coach can hold Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) events and similar adult programs.

Level 3 coaches also receive formal training to help individuals select and maintain the correct equipment. Although archery equipment may appear very basic, there are many details such as bow type and size, draw weight, and appropriate arrows for the student’s set-up that can enhance an archer’s proficiency.
