The fish stocked for this event are in the 14-to-20-inch range and may weigh up to 3 pounds!
The weather forecast for April 22 was not the best, so this year’s trout tournament will on Saturday, April 29th. Everything else remains the same. It begin at 3 pm and will continue until 6 pm. There is no cost to participate.
The rules are simple. You must have a valid Virginia Freshwater Fishing License, and you must be a Wintergreen Property owner, a guest of a Wintergreen Property owner, or a guest of the Wintergreen Resort. All fish must be weighed in by 6 pm to be eligible for prizes.
The normal restrictions for the Trout Pond will be waived for the tournament only. Any type of bait, artificial or natural, and any type of rod will be allowed. Only fishing from shore is allowed - no kayaks, boats, flotation devices, or rafts are allowed.
Anyone can fish and there will be no size or number limit on the fish caught. Youngsters may be assisted but must land the fish themselves to be eligible in the tournament.
This tournament is being co-sponsored by the Wintergreen Property Owners Association and the Wintergreen Sporting Club. The fish stocked for this event are in the 14-to-20-inch range and may weigh up to 3 pounds!
Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place in two categories: under 14 years and 14 years and over. Fish will be judged on weight; scales will be available.
