WSC Archery Coach John Morgan

Wintergreen Sporting Club's John Morgan is now a Level 3 archery coach having attended additional classes and passed more tests with USA Archery.

John sought this additional training so as to provide the opportunity for those involved in the WSC Archery to further develop their skills.

Level Three coaches can teach individuals using the National Training System. (This is USA Archery's training system used to develop US Olympic archers.) The NTS is a detailed educational program that involves 11 steps, starting with a stance to follow through. It provides a solid foundation for executing a consistent and accurate shot process.

In addition, a Level 3 coach can help individuals select and maintain the correct equipment. Although archery equipment may appear very basic, there are many details such as bow type and size, draw weight, and appropriate arrows for the student’s set-up that can enhance archers' proficiency.

The Level 3 Coach Certification Courses focuses on developing coaches who are capable of utilizing evidence-based coaching and teaching methods, understanding the finer details and concepts of the National Training System for both Recurve and Compound, and providing organized and effective training programs.

John can also train Level 1 instructors and conduct other educational programs. Level 3 coaches can hold Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) events or similar adult programs.

Football's Vince Lombardi is quoted as saying, “Practice does not make perfect. Only perfect practice makes perfect.” The NTS system allows the archer to get the most benefit out of their practice session.
