Trout Pond Fall Stocking Update: Catch and Keep One starts on New Year’s Day 2022

Fishing on Trout Pond started up again on November 12th and the photos here show just a few of the happy anglers having a great time.

The pause in the fishing here was due to the pond having been stocked for this winter and fall and the fish needing time to adjust to their new home.

This was the pond’s first fall stocking. In the past, the pond had been stocked only in the early spring. The stocking was funded by donations from the Wintergreen Sporting Club’s membership and is being managed by the club’s volunteers. A committee of fish-feeder tends to the pond daily.

Trout Pond anglers were only allowed catch-and-release at first. Catch & release is the standard rule on The Ponds of Wintergreen. On January 1, 2022, the club changed this rule on Trout Pond to “Catch and Keep One.”

Trout Pond is open to all Wintergreen property owners. As always, both a valid Virginia fishing license and the orange WPOA fishing pass are required on all Wintergreen fishing ponds and streams.
