NOTE: The date on this trip has changed.
A two-night trip June 21th & 22th to the Chincoteague area where we'll enjoy a guided tour of Virginia's Eastern Shore Seaside Water Trail of salt water marshes, bays, and inlets. (We are leaving Nelson County mid-morning on Monday, June 20th, staying overnight rather than try to get off to a crack-of-dawn start.)
The proposed agenda for the first day on the water is a guided paddling tour through the salt marshes and bays, with a visit to the famous Chincoteague wild ponies. The second morning we can either have an unguided paddling on our own or a kayak-winery tour. It’s going to be fun.
You can rent a kayak on the Virginia Eastern Shore calling Southeast Expeditions at 757-336-5979. They offer single, double, sit-in and sit-on kayaks and everything to go with them. The club has two sit-ins and one sit-on kayak available to members on a first-come-first-served. To reserve a club-owned kayak email firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, kayaks can be rented from Waynesboro's Rockfish Gap Outfitters.
Our base will be the Waterside Inn (3761 Main St., Chincoteague, VA 23336). The hotels/motels in Chincoteague fill up fast in the summer–many are sold out already. We suggest that you go to hotel’s booking site here (contact the Waterside Inn directly at 877-891-3434) or check with www.bookings.com to check availability. Move on this as soon as possible.
Not interested in paddling? There is much to do in the Chincoteague area: fishing, wildlife trails, hiking, seaside rambling, shopping, museums, parks and more. For more information visit the Chamber of Commerce website.
Please let us know if you plan to attend so that I can keep you up-to-date on our plans for this trip. Email us here. We are eager to share this experience with friends.
